Let’s Have Fun and Celebrate the USA Blog!

My goal for this blog is simple:

All I want to do is to find as many fun ways to teach children about the United States as I can. One of my favorite ways to do this is through cooking.

Idea #1: Let’s make chocolate gravy. If you are from one of our southern states, I’m pretty sure you know what chocolate gravy is. If you’re not from the south, then maybe you’ve never heard of it.

Tasks:

  • Find a recipe for chocolate gravy.
  • Decide what you want to put it on (biscuits are a common choice).
  • Find out why people started making chocolate gravy.
  • Take pictures of what you make.
  • Enjoy eating!
In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, sugar, and salt. Pour in the milk and whisk until all the lumps are gone. Place the pan over medium heat and cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly, until the gravy just begins to boil and then thickens.
